Spring in the walled garden provided the inspiration and many of the ingredients needed to begin. Space in a timeless natural environment, the magic rocket stove, willow bark and nettles to make colour in an old pan.
Some inherited watercolour papers were used at first and then donated or salvaged fabrics for botanical printmaking with fresh leaves and flowers. Early spring gave few choices in the chill of a Scottish garden, however thickets of the humble bramble and winter weeds opened my eyes to the possibilities. Midsummer brought a profusion of growth and species giving many choices and different results.
