Late spring and early summer has brought a profusion of lush foliage, flowers and the most unexpected of natural dyes. Vivid yellow and olive greens from naturalised weld, Reseda luteola, growing in and around Granton castle walled garden. The intense colours conjuring up images of a less drab Medieval Scotland than expected.

Pink, yellow & green Edinburgh tartan anyone? A touch of Pictish blue and some more purples, red & orange coming soon.
